PEI PNP Draw Invites 211 Candidates

Prince Edward Island (PEI)

Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draw invited 211 Express Entry, Labour Impact, and Business Impact immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in the latest draw.

Prince Edward Island has released the details of its most recent immigration draw on October 15 and most of the invitations of 184 which went to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates and 27 from Business Impact candidates as long as they had a minimum point threshold of 97.

Provincial Nominee Programs allow Canada’s provinces and territories to select immigration candidates who meet their labor market needs and in some cases they are also aligned with Canada’s federal Express Entry system.

PEI Express Entry Category

Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) Express Entry Category is an enhanced PNP which means it works within the Canadian government’s Express Entry system.

The Express Entry system manages the applications for 3 of economic-class immigration programs i.e.

  1. Federal Skilled Worker Program
  2. Federal Skilled Trades Program, and
  3. Canadian Experience Class.

The eligible candidates are then given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on their age, work experience, education, and language proficiency in English and French.

The Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination will award an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score which are effectively guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canada’s permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

In order to be considered for a provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island, the Express Entry candidates need to create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program )PEI PNP).

The Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles are given points based on the province’s unique point’s grid and the highest-scoring candidates are then invited to apply through its monthly draws.

Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) did not provide a breakdown of how many Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates were invited, nor the minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score required for each category.

Labour Impact Category

The Labour Impact Category is for foreign nationals who have a valid job offer in Prince Edward Island and must have support from their employer. It is divided into three streams i.e.

  1. Skilled Worker
  2. Critical Worker, and
  3. International Graduate.

The candidates in this category must also submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile in order to be considered for a provincial nomination through its Labour Impact Category.

Business Impact Category

The 27 candidates who were invited through the Business Impact Category on October 15 needed a minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score of 184 and these invitations were issued under the Work Permit Stream which is for foreign entrepreneurs who want to own and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.
