Prince Edward Island (PEI) releases details of 3 PNP draws

Prince Edward IslandPrince Edward Island (PEI) has held 3 PNP draws and invited the immigration candidates working in essential services industries.

For these 3 draws the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) has only invited candidates from the Express Entry and Labour Impact categories. The candidates were invited who are working in an essential service like healthcare or trucking.  The business Impact candidates are normally also included in Prince Edward Island (PEI) Expression of Interest (EOI) draws, but they were not a part of the past 3 draws. As a result, there were only 29 candidates were issued invitations over the course of the 3 draws.

As usual Prince Edward Island Provincial Nomination Program (PEI PNP) draws issue over 100 invitations across the 3 streams. On 23rd March 2020, a total of 5 candidates were invited to apply for a provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island (PEI). Then on 27th April 2020, there were a total of 10 candidates invited. Certainly on 15th May 2020, there were a total of 14 candidates invited.

Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) Express Entry Category is aligned with the Canadian government’s Express Entry System. This Express Entry system manages the applications for 3 economic class immigration programs.

  1. Federal Skilled Worker Program
  2. Federal Skilled Trades Program, and 
  3. Canadian Experience Class.

The Express Entry candidates create the profiles that are put into a pool. In this pool the candidates were given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for human capital factors like age, work experience, education, and official language proficiency.

The Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination are given an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score which is effectively guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the Government of Canada in a following Express Entry draw. In order to be considered for a provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island (PEI), the Express Entry candidates must need to create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program.

The Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles is given points based on the province’s unique points system where only highest-scoring candidates are then invited to apply through monthly draws.

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) did not provide a breakdown of how many Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates were invited. PEI PNP also did not provide the minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score that required for each category.

The candidates in the Labour Impact Category were also invited in the past 3 draws. In this immigration, a category is for foreign nationals who have a valid job offer in Prince Edward Island (PEI), and have support from their employer. It is divided into 3 streams i.e.

  1. Skilled Worker
  2. Critical Worker, and 
  3. International Graduate.

The candidates from this category must also submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile in order to be considered for a provincial nomination through Labour Impact Category.

There were no invitations were issued to candidates in the Business Impact: Work Permit Stream.

The Work Permit Stream is for the entrepreneurs who wish to own and operate a business in Prince Edward Island (PEI).
