Manitoba invites 242 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence (PR). The Express Entry candidates, skilled workers, and international student graduates who filed an Expression of Interest (EOI) with Manitoba were invited in the latest provincial nominee program draw.

Manitoba has sent out another round of invitations to immigration candidates who submitted Expression of Interest profiles to their provincial nominee program. In the latest draw which held on 13th Feb 2020, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) invited 242 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence. This is Manitoba’s second draw in 2 weeks.

The invitations or Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) went to candidates in the following 3 provincial streams ie,

  1. Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 182
  2. Skilled Workers Overseas: 27
  3. International Education Stream: 33

Out of the 242 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) issued, a total of 15 went to the Express Entry candidates.

The Express Entry is Canada’s leading pathway for economic-class immigrants to obtain permanent residence. Federal Express Entry system manages applications for 3 immigration programs i.e.

  1. Federal Skilled Worker Program
  2. Federal Skilled Trades Program,  
  3. Canadian Experience Class.

Once the candidate is approved for one of these programs they are given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score which is calculated based on age, work experience, education, and official language proficiency. Only the highest-scoring candidates are issued invitations to apply (ITA) for permanent residence through its regular Express Entry draws.

The 15 Express Entry candidates selected by Manitoba will receive an extra 600 CRS points toward their overall score which will effectively guarantee that they will receive an invitation in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

If Express Entry candidates want to get considered for a provincial nomination then they must have eligible work experience in an in-demand occupation with the other requirements and they must also submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP).

The Manitoba operates an Expression of Interest (EOI) system where Candidates vying for a provincial nomination through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas categories need to register an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). An Expression of Interest (EOI) is an online profile that ranks candidates out of a score of 1,000 points that are awarded for the education, work experience, connections to Manitoba and proficiency in an official language with the other factors.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) selects a set number of the highest-scoring candidates to receive a Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) Once invited. The candidates can apply for a provincial nomination from Manitoba and the scores are required for the 2 skilled worker programs in the latest draw i.e.

  1. Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 525
  2. Skilled Workers Overseas: 611

Skilled Worker Overseas Category allows the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) to select and nominate skilled foreign workers who can help support Manitoba’s labor market. The Candidates must have a well-established connection to Manitoba such as close family or Relatives or friends or previous education or work experience in the province or an invitation through one of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) Strategic Recruitment with the other requirements.

They do not need to be in Manitoba at the time of application in order to be qualified. The 27 candidates invited through the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream were invited directly by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative. The Candidates invited through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Category must be working in Manitoba and have a full-time, permanent job offer from their employer with the other criteria.

The Manitoba graduates with in-demand skills may be invited under the International Education Stream. This stream includes three sub-categories i.e.

  1. Career Employment Pathway
  2. Graduate Internship Pathway,
  3. Student Entrepreneur Pathway.
